Hi we’re Cecilia and Janine and we live in Copenhagen, Denmark. We have found ourselves in This Unknown Place of being childless not by choice and trying to navigate a world largely focused on motherhood, children and the standard idea of family. We’re looking to create a welcoming and accepting space for others like us so we can connect and forge friendships with those living the same experience. We’re also keen to challenge the narrative that kids and family are the only path to true meaning in life and to break the social taboos around childlessness.
A bit more about Janine: I’m 54 years old and come from New Zealand. I’m currently living in Copenhagen with my Danish partner who I met in Sydney, where I lived for 10 years. We moved to Denmark 8 years ago, following a series of pregnancy losses and finding myself smack in the middle of mummyland. We love to travel and have travelled much of Europe and beyond, mainly by motorbike. A former lawyer, I’ve turned my love of writing into a career as a content writer. I’m also keen on photography, art, fashion and yoga.
A bit more about Cecilia: I am 48 years old. I am married. I am childless not by choice. I live in Denmark, Kgs. Lyngby not far from Copenhagen. At the moment, I am figuring out my next step in my work-life. I have for nearly 25 years worked within smaller and larger corporations with HR, transformation, and leadership. I enjoy spending time out-door, to travel and to socialize. I also enjoy a lot to read, to write and to do yoga.
